Huge participation as athletes eye Asian Youth Games spots

Stakes are high for athletes in the youth category as Sri Lanka Athletics is set to pick a team for the Asian Youth Games based on the results of the Junior National Athletics Championship starting at Diyagama today.
The sport's governing body announced the four-day championship as the final selection ground to prepare the 'long list' for the Asian Youth Games taking place in Bahrain in October.
According to Sri Lanka Athletics, athletes born in 2009 and 2010 are eligible for selections for the Asian Youth Games. The Asian Youth Championship medallists, including Tharushi Abisheka are among the hopefuls vying for honours in the Under 18 age category.
