BYD SHARK 6 - a New Energy Vehicle promising environmental benefits

The event, held in Cinnamon Life, marked not just the debut of an off-road-ready plug-in hybrid, but also a celebration of BYD's rapid rise in Sri Lanka since the easing of import restrictions earlier this year.

The launch event drew a broad spectrum of stakeholders: customers eager to explore the new range of BYD vehicles, partners from Shenzhen, Colombo-based BYD team members, John Keells CG Auto staff, and members of the media. Addressing the gathering, Krishan Balendra, chairperson of John Keells Holdings PLC, highlighted the significance of this collaboration.

"I think, apart from the SHARK 6 launch, it goes without saying that all of you are aware of how well BYD has done globally in the last few years, Balendra said. "About a year back, BYD became the number one brand in terms of volume in electric or new energy vehicle sales worldwide. And we were very happy to see recently that BYD became number one in Europe, despite all the challenges of operating in that market in the different European countries."
