Ambitious plans for introducing a new bar and outdoor drinking area ata long-established Irvine hotel have been put on ice after residents made objections.

The Riverside Lodge Hotel in Annick Road applied to North Ayrshire Licensing Board for a variation of premises licence.

General manager Christopher Cumming confirmed they were requesting an additional bar adjacent to the function suite to be used for weddings and events and an additional outdoor drinking area on the patio/ terrace area to the front of the function suite.

This will be used for weddings/events to permit guests to take drinks into this area but there is no bar facility.
