Drive to urge students to accept free school meals

Families are being encouraged to ensure their children take up the offer of free school meals in North Ayrshire if they are eligible to do so.

North Ayrshire Council have confirmed that all primary school pupils between Primary One and Primary Five are eligible for free school meals.

Children in P6 and P7 are also eligible if their families are in receipt of the Scottish Child Payment.

In August, the local authority further expanded provision to include those learners in S1 - S3 whose families are in receipt of the Scottish Child Payment.

Councillor Shaun Macaulay, Cabinet Member for Education and Young People, is urging families to make the most of the provision if they can.
