Jaguar Land Rover poised for return after cyber attack

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has said it will resume some manufacturing production in the “coming days” as it continues to deal with the fallout from a major cyber attack.

The car manufacturer has been in shutdown mode since the beginning of September, and has already twice postponed a return to production. Some estimates suggest the company is losing £50m a week.

Over the weekend, the government agreed to provide a £1.5bn loan guarantee to JLR, in an effort to protect companies in its supply chain as well as the manufacturer itself.

More than 33,000 people are directly employed by JLR in the UK, with a large number of those on car assembly lines. They were told to stay at home as the extent of the cyber attack was discovered, but some will soon be returning to work.
