(KIRKLEES COUNCIL)

The academy will be moving from its current location in Scissett into a new development at the old Deighton Centre site on Deighton Road.

This week, a breaking ground ceremony was held to celebrate the start of this development.

It was attended by young learners and representatives from Kirklees Council, Wellspring Academy Trust, Joseph Norton Academy and Wates construction, among others.

While the Joseph Norton's current semi-rural school grounds have offered unique learning experiences, including a school farm, its buildings are dated and the grounds have posed challenges for further development.
