End to disruption in sight

IMPROVEMENTS to Holmfirth town centre are on track for a spring 2026 finish after months of disruption.

The £10.3m Holmfirth Town Centre Access Plan is part of the village’s wider Blueprint project and is designed to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions, improve journey times, encourage active travel and make the town more accessible.

Work began last March and since then strides have been made in terms of the scheme’s progress.

However, it has been a difficult time for traders.

Several businesses, including Peak Footwear and Plants in the Holme, have closed in the last year.

Disruption from roadworks was said to have played a part in the decisions to shut up shop.
