|November 08, 2025
A JUNIOR detective serving with West Yorkshire Police seized a mobile phone from a reported rape victim but failed to submit it for examination.
-
A misconduct panel heard that Detective Constable Patrick Banks visited a woman - 'Miss E' - in January who handed over her Android mobile phone in order for information on it to be downloaded and examined.
The Leeds-based West Yorkshire Police officer failed to hand it in and did not record it in any way. It was later found in a cupboard drawer during a search of his house.
