Battle to save Sena went viral, now she needs help to live longer without pain

'Warrior dog' Sena went viral for her transformation after she was nursed back to health

(BETH WESTWOOD)

Beth Westwood, 33, was initially scared to hold 'warrior dog' Sena, in case she 'snapped in half.' Beth, who comes from Halifax and has been living in Thailand for the past year, said: “Sena was found by a good friend of ours. She stumbled into the road in a rural area of Thailand, known as Khao Sok in December, 2024.

“My partner and I agreed we'd go pick her up and do our best to recover her. When we saw her, we were both in shock. We've never seen a dog so skinny; We were scared to hold her in case she broke.”

It took months of rehabilitation from Beth and her partner Gonzola, but having moved to Thailand for work, Beth knew that she would have enough time to dedicate to the elderly pooch. Beth said: “In the beginning, we had to feed her every two hours to prevent refeeding syndrome. We had Royal Canine Recovery food, a quarter of a small tin mixed with some boiled chicken each time. Then we gradually spread out the time and built up the portion.”
