SEANN MILEY MOORE STEALS THE LIMELIGHT
IT may be hard to believe, but last year marked 50 years since the fall of Saigon, ushering in the final throes of the Vietnam War. Possibly even more surprising is the swiftness which Miss Saigon was created for the stage and made its debut in the West End, making its world premiere in September 1989.
Yet the story of a Vietnamese girl, an American GI and their love affair amid the tumult of war remains so enduring that theatre audiences are still as keen as ever to snap up tickets to Miss Saigon which has been reimagined some 36 years after was first unveiled.
Having arrived at Theatre Royal Plymouth this week, as part of a UK tour which began in October and is scheduled up until August, there certainly seems no lack of enthusiasm for a show which continues to enthral.
