Torrential rain delays completion of crossing

NEW £400K SCHEME AT COT HILL IS HAMPERED BY POOR WEATHER
TORRENTIAL rain has delayed the completion of a £400,000 scheme to install a crossing for cyclists and pedestrians on one of Plymouth’s busiest roads.
Work on the Cot Hill crossing, in Plympton, has been hampered by the current poor weather, Plymouth City Council said in an important update - with the opening now due this week.
Work was coming to an end and due to finish today with the crossing in operation on Monday, but the council said the poor weather has “unfortunately hampered some of this week's final surfacing and lining works” and it won't be completed until “the middle of next week.”
Although some work was carried out last night the council said workers couldn’t resurface due to rain.
The spokesperson said: “We hope to finish by the middle of [this] week. Thanks for bearing with us during these very final stages of work.”
