Tavistock still seeking

TAVISTOCK manager Stuart Henderson has reiterated his desire for more firepower, despite seeing his side cruise into the second round of the St Luke's Devon Bowl with a 3-0 win over Ilfracombe on Wednesday.

Goals from Ben Fowles, Jack Crago and Nick Salop saw the Lambs progress against an Ilfracombe side now plying their trade in the South West Peninsula League. But it will be a different matter tomorrow when the Lambs return to Southern League Division One action with a Devon derby against Willand Rovers.

"You have to be mindful because they are two leagues below, but some things were good, we have managed to come through injury free and play a few of the younger lads and win the game," Henderson said.

"I said after the game that we haven't got a cutting edge and it is so desperate to see that we haven't got a finisher. We certainly missed a lot more chances than we scored, but some of the other areas of play were pleasing.

"We can be quite sloppy at times, but we got away with it tonight. But when you are playing a team at our level on a Saturday afternoon, nine times out of ten you'll get punished.
