Table-topping Albion show intent with statement victory

PLYMOUTH Albion's trip to Bishop’s Stortford was billed as their toughest assignment of the season, so to come away with maximum points following a 31-15 victory is the biggest statement yet of their promotion ambitions.

Bishop's Stortford are a solid National One side that has sought to improve their squad over the summer, bringing in a plethora of talent to their squad.

Coming into the game Albion were looking to keep their unbeaten record alive having already made short work of both Leeds Tykes and Clifton RFC in two dominant wins, amassing 17 tries in the process, against both newly-promoted teams.

Jake Clemson crashed his way over for the first try of the game after just six minutes to give Albion a dream start and Frankie Dart added the conversion.

After the restart, Bishop's forced the game into Albion’s 22, and piled on the pressure, keen to level things up as soon as possible. For the next ten minutes they held territorial advantage, constantly pressuring the Albion defensive line, but Albion held firm.
