CLEVERLEY PLEADS FOR PATIENCE AFTER 'BIG TRANSITION'

TOM Cleverley says he only knows one way and that’s to ‘bite down on the gum shield, work as hard as I possibly can and fight through it.

Chief Executive Paul Berne gave the Argyle head coach a vote of confidence this week, vowing that ‘nothing has changed in terms of Tom being the right person for this club’ after another dismal defeat to Mansfield Town in midweek.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's FA Cup first round clash away at Wycombe Wanderers, Cleverley spoke of his desire to get the Pilgrims back to winning ways.

He explained: “It was a long term vision when we committed to each other in the summer. I don’t think anything's changed there. That isn’t an excuse or complacency for me to feel I have the licence to lose football matches.
