Plan to convert offices into flats secures approval

The council's planning committee has given approval for the conversion of the property in Plymouth Road, next to the town's bus station, which will create two one-bed flats and one two-bed flat.

Councillors heard that there is a demand for this type of affordable accommodation because of the current lack of private rented homes. The time taken to source long-term accommodation has increased and applicants are staying in temporary accommodation like bed and breakfast establishments for longer periods of time, which is costing the council more.
