Pilgrims work in progress - Cleverley

PLYMOUTH Arayle have a newfound confidence after their recent improved performances and results and it is now ‘all about consistency’ as far as head coach Tom Cleverley is concerned.

The Pilgrims got off to a terrible start to their League One campaign after a summer of turmoil at Home Park, which included a huge turnover of players, as they lost their opening four fixtures.

However, going into their game against Peterborough United at Home Park today, they have won three of their last four matches, including back-to-back victories over Stockport County (4-2) and Luton Town (3-2).

Midfielder Bradley Ibrahim, who has scored three goals in those two contests, is one of the players whose confidence on the pitch has risen considerably since the difficult first few weeks of the season for the Pilgrims.

Cleverley said: “We know that the start wasn't what we wanted but when you look at our transfer window it was more for the medium and longer term.

“The age profile of the squad went significantly down. How many players were proven at this level? Probably half the players we signed, and the other half were unknowns. We have introduced five, six academy lads into our squad, who are also unproven at the level.”
