PAUL Berne will officially start work as Plymouth Argyle's new chief executive officer on January 1 after being appointed as the successor to Andrew Parkinson, who stepped down from the role last month.

- By CHRIS ERRINGTON

Berne, inset, has been a member of Argyle's board of directors since 2019 but will now take on the day-to-day running of the club as it bids to bounce back from Championship relegation last season.

Argyle confirmed the appointment of Berne at 6pm tonight: In a statement, the club said: "The 51-year-old was most recently CEO at Trewithen Dairy and brings extensive experience across finance and operations. He has also served on the Argyle board since 2019, providing valuable counsel and experience.
