A NURSERY in Plymouth where children "flourish" and make "rapid progress" has been judged outstanding across the board by Ofsted, following an inspection in March.
Bambinos Day Nursery, located on School Drive in Woolwell, Plymouth, was praised for offering “a wide range of stimulating learning experiences” and a curriculum that is “highly effective” and “ambitious”.
The nursery, which caters for 87 children aged between 0 and 4, retained its previous outstanding rating in every area: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management.
In a report brimming with praise, inspectors highlighted the “exceptionally warm relationships” between staff and children, noting the care and thoughtfulness with which staff support the emotional wellbeing of even the youngest children.
“Children, especially babies, demonstrate exceptionally warm relationships with staff who are incredibly responsive and sensitive to their needs,” the report states. “Staff provide a thorough settling-in process for new children and thoughtfully ensure that children have personal items from home to help them feel part of the nursery”.
The nursery’s approach to learning was described as both rigorous and personalised. “Staff have put in place a highly effective, ambitious curriculum that develops children's knowledge over time,” inspectors observed. “Children are enthusiastic learners and demonstrate consistently positive attitudes to their learning. They relish the opportunity to take part in new activities and become deeply engaged”.
