THEY'RE WORRIED HE'LL MAKE THE SHIP INN 'TOO EXPENSIVE' IF HE BUYS
THE village of Noss Mayo is divided over rumours a celebrity chef could be about to buy the local pub.
The Ship Inn - which boasts access by road, foot or water - has been owned by husband and wife Lisa and Charles Bullock for almost two decades.
It is now on the market - with arguably the world's most celebrated chef, Gordon Ramsay, rumoured to be in the running to take it on.
Some residents and visitors to Noss Mayo thought Ramsay's presence would be a good thing. Others, however, are concerned about a fresh influx of tourists overwleming the narrow lanes.
Jan Lenard has lived in the village for more than 50 years. Jan said: "We don't bow down to celebrities, let's put it that way. As long as he keeps it a decent, quiet pub and doesn't change it too much by getting new people in, I don't think it will be a problem.
Jan added: "There have been so many changes since we've lived here, we used to know everybody's name. Now there are more than 50% holiday homes in Noss Mayo, but there is still a good community."
