PILES OF DUMPED WASTE ARE STAGED TO RAISE AWARNESS

- By LEWIS CLARKE

A REALISTIC roadside pile of illegally dumped rubbish has turned heads in West Devon - but it was all part of a staged campaign to raise awareness of the environmental and financial damage caused by fly tipping.

The scene appeared at Anderton Lay-by on the A386 near Tavistock on Tuesday, October 14, as part of a joint effort between Devon and Cornwall Police and West Devon Borough Council.

The mock fly tip, which included furniture and white goods, aimed to educate the public about how to report waste crimes and the consequences for those responsible.
