Man jailed after 'brutal and sustained assault'

A PLYMOUTH man who carried out a "brutal and sustained" assault on his former partner within days of being released from prison has been jailed.
Jason Tooley (pictured), 36, of Bedford Park Villas, Plymouth appeared at Plymouth Crown Court after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation on December 4 last year.
Prosecutor Ed Bailey said Tooley has 17 previous convictions for 31 offences, five of which were against the person with seven of his convictions involving the same woman since 2020. The court was told he was subject of a restraining order imposed in 2011 following the offence of harassment, which he then breached a number of times.
