CLEVERLEY IMPRESSED AS DEFENDER RETURNS TO FITNESS
JACK MacKenzie is 'getting closer and closer' to finally making his first start for Plymouth Argyle after an injury-hit first season with the club, head coach Tom Cleverley has declared.
The 25-year-old left-back joined Argyle last summer after lifting the Scottish Cup with Aberdeen at the end of 2024/25 season but a number of fitness issues led to a long delay before he belatedly made his debut.
That came as a second half substitute in the 2-1 League One defeat away to Stockport County on January 31 and MacKenzie has gone on to make three more appearances off the bench.
He has been sent on at halftime in the last two of those - the 2-1 Vertu Trophy quarterfinal defeat at Luton Town and the 1-0 league defeat away to Rotherham United.
