MORE SHOPPERS THAN EVER - AND RETAIL SALES UP BY 9%
Drake Circus ablaze with festive lights
(GUY N HARRIS)
PLYMOUTH’S Drake Circus Shopping Centre had a bumper Christmas with more shoppers visiting it than a year earlier - and buying more goods.
During the Christmas period, from December 2lst to January 3rd, the mall saw a 3% increase in footfall compared to the same fortnight in 2024.
Monday, December 22nd was the busiest as shoppers picked up last minute gifts and enjoyed the Christmas lights, festive character visits and snow flurries.
As a result, sales at Drake Circus mall also soared during the same period, with retailers reporting a rise of 9% compared to the previous year as shoppers made the most of the huge range of stores on offer.
The British Land-owned shopping centre welcomed several new arrivals in the lead up to the big day itself, with Swarovski, Office, Victoria’s Secret and ProCook all having joined the existing lineup during the latter weeks of 2025, and consistently drawing significant crowds.
