REFORMS TO HELP PEOPLE ‘UPSKILL'

- By IAN LEWIS

ARTS University Plymouth has welcomed new government reforms to lifelong learning, as the specialist institution prepares to launch its new Ceramics and Glass course from September.

The Department for Education has named Arts University Plymouth among the first providers approved for modular funding through the Lifelong Learning Entitlement, known as the LLE.

The LLE is a new student finance system intended to help people in England study, retrain and upskill more flexibly across their lives.

For eligible courses and modules starting from January 2027, learners are expected to be able to apply for LLE funding from September.

Students from England whose courses start between August 31 and December 31, 2026 can now apply for 2026/27 student finance under the current system.
