Argyle show their attacking prowess in excellent victory

HERE are the player ratings of Herald Sport's Argyle reporter Chris Errington from the Pilgrims' 4-2 League One win against Stockport County at Home Park.

Luca Ashby-Hammond 6 - Will no doubt have been disappointed to concede a second Stockport goal in the fifth minute of added time at the end of the match when he was beaten by a firm, accurate shot from Kyle Wootton.

Kornel Szucs 7 - Played on the right side of Argyle’s central defensive trio as Tom Cleverley switched from a back four to 3-4-2-1. Out of all the defensive positions that Szucs has been used in by the Pilgrims that is probably his best and he put in a strong showing.

Alex Mitchell 7 - The loan signing from Charlton Athletic has been exactly what Argyle needed after their very shaky defensive start to the season. He is League One proven, he is no-nonsense in how he goes about games, and playing in the middle of a central defensive trio he can read the play more, rather than have to react to it all the time.

Brendan Wiredu 7 - Tom Cleverley made the point very clearly in his post-match Press conference that he now views Wiredu as a central defender, not a midfielder. He has the athleticism and pace to cover a lot of ground, is strong with his challenges and is a good left-sided alternative to Brendan Galloway.
