PILGRIMS HAVE STRUGGLED FOR GOALS AND NOW THEY MUST MAKE DO WITHOUT THEIR TOP SCORER

Argyle must find an answer to playing without Tolaj

Lorent Tolaj walks past Kevin Nolan after being shown a red card in the defeat to Northampton Town

(PETE NORTON)

THE last time any Plymouth Argyle player other than Lorent Tolaj scored a goal was Bim Pepple near the end of the Pilgrims' 4-0 win away to Burton Albion on September 27.

In the two months since then Argyle have scored only four times in nine games in all competitions, and Tolaj has got them all.

That is why the fact that Tolaj is now facing an automatic three match suspension after his red card in the 3-0 defeat by Northampton Town at Home Park on Saturday is so concerning for the Pilgrims, who already had plenty of problems to deal with.

Head coach Tom Cleverley said: “It is something we think about when we pick a team is that Owen (Dale) does a great job for us but he has not had a goal this year, Bali (Mumba) has not scored this year, Matty Sorinola has got one this year, and then you have got Tolly.
