Argyle boosted by the return of some experience

TOM Cleverley believes the return from injury of senior players such as Conor Hazard and Jamie Paterson will help Plymouth Argyle’s largely youthful squad find consistency in their performances.

- By CHRIS ERRINGTON

The Pilgrims had appeared to have turned a corner after losing their first four League One games of the season by winning three of the next four, but were then beaten 1-0 by bottom-of-the-table Peterborough United at Home Park last Saturday.

That result saw Peterborough replaced in 24th position by Burton Albion and they will host Argyle at the Pirelli Stadium on today.

Hazard and Paterson both made comebacks from injury in the midweek home 6-2 Vertu Trophy victory over Tottenham Hotspur under-21s and will be part of the squad against Burton.

Cleverley said: “One thing | must say clearly is you can achieve things with a young group. It makes it more difficult but you can achieve things with a young group and it's my job to improve them.

“What you get from the experience of people like Pato and Conor who have played a lot of games is a consistency, making the right decisions at the right time, managing the game, managing the environment.
