- By CARL EVE

A JURY have been told that a London man accused of aggravated burglary involving weapons had a previous conviction for aggravated burglary involving weapons.

Bektas Gurgur aged 40 and of Stamford Road, Tottenham in London is on trial at Plymouth Crown Court where he faces one charge of aggravated burglary with Curtis Smith, Altan Tezcan and Engin Timur - at a property in Monument Street on February 17, 2024. He has pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The jury of 10 women and two men were told that the three other men - Smith, 22, of no fixed abode in Plymouth; Tezcan, 38 of Hackney, London, and Timur, 35, of Hackney, London - have all pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary of the property in Monument Street.

The jury previously heard that Gurgur, along with Smith and Tezcan, was alleged to have forced his way into the property, the home of a car dealer. Once inside the car dealer and his friend were threatened and assaulted and the trio only left after they stole a bag containing at least £12,500 and a number of car keys.
