COLLATON PARK SCHEME FAST TAKING SHAPE
WORK is well underway at a major award-winning housing development on the edge of Plymouth - with one house being built each week from now on.
Demolition and infrastructure work began last year at the former Collaton Cross RAF base near Yealmpton where none of the 125 properties being built will be used as holiday lets or second homes.
The Collaton Park project will have a principal residence restriction to ensure the dwellings fill a local housing need. Plymouth-based Pillar Land Securities is delivering the project under its A Different Approach (ADA) initiative and has already been lauded.
The Millbay-headquartered company has also just been named as one of the UK’s top 100 social enterprises, in the NatWest SE100 Index - a rare feat for a construction industry firm. It was also shortlisted for an award, in the impact management pioneer category, by the same organisation.
The ADA strategy is designed to tackle rural housing shortages by focusing on “genuinely affordable” community-led development.
