10,000 cars caught out in 20mph zone

MORE than 10,000 speeding offences were recorded on the 20mph zone on Old Laira Road in the last year, according to data from Devon and Cornwall Police.
A total of 10,540 offences were recorded between April 2024 and March this year, according to the data, making the Old Laira Road the second ‘worst’ for speeding in the whole of the force area.
The figures reveal that 8,975 Notices of Intended Prosection (NIPs) were sent out as a result of offences on Old Laira Road, while 132 fixed penalty notices (FPNs) were issued.
Legal Expert gathered information from Devon and Cornwall Police showing that Cornish roads account for six of the 15 ‘worst’ in the region.
