Up to 50 higher education providers at risk of leaving sector

Fifty higher education providers in England are at risk of leaving the market, MPs were told yesterday as part of their inquiry into funding.
The evidence follows a forecast from England's higher education regulator, the Office for Students, that found three in four universities could be in the red next year.
The Commons education committee yesterday heard that of 50 institutions judged vulnerable, 24 were in more immediate danger and could be forced to stop offering degrees within 12 months.
