Troubled Bradford venue back on track to reopen

The restored concert hall Bradford Live has closed a troublesome chapter in its 95-year history, as a deal was finally struck with a new operator after the previous one pulled out just months before it was due to open.
The Midlands-based NEC Group pulled out of the original agreement to operate the 3,900-capacity venue in September, leaving no one to run it. To make matters worse, it had been funded with £50m from the public purse - most of it paid for by a local council with a budget crisis.
However, since a deal was struck with Trafalgar Entertainment, which runs 19 other venues in the UK, planning has swung back into motion: acts are being confirmed, staff are being hired, and there is a new sense of optimism in the city that the venue really will open in the next six months.
