Smartwatches could help smokers kick the habit, say researchers

Smartwatches could be used to help people to quit smoking, a study has suggested.
Researchers have developed software that can detect when someone is holding a cigarette. When cigarette use is detected, an alert flashes up on the smartwatch and an app delivers a vibration with a text message offering support to stop smoking.
One message reads: "Stopping smoking lets you breathe more easily... quitting is good", while others contain a tally of how many cigarettes were smoked and the total number of drags taken that day.
