Poundland sold for £1 with dozens of store closures likely under restructuring plan

Poundland is expected to close dozens of its stores after being bought by an investment company for £1.
The discount retail chain, which has more than 800 UK outlets and 16,000 staff, was put up for sale by the Pepco Group in March amid "challenging trading conditions".
Gordon Brothers, the US buyer and former owner of Laura Ashley, said it would invest up to £80m to help turn Poundland around.
The deal includes a restructuring plan expected to involve store closures, putting thousands of jobs at risk.
The company, which is also thought to be trying to slash its rent bill, said details would be communicated "in due course".
