Flood warnings rise amid forecasts of yet more rain
The Guardian
|February 16, 2026
Anyone hoping for relief from the wet weather this week may be disappointed, with more flooding expected and flurries of snow forecast.
The Environment Agency has issued 72 flood warnings, meaning flooding is expected, mainly in the southwest of England and the Midlands. There are also 191 flood alerts, which indicate possible flooding, in place across England.
Natural Resources Wales said two flood alerts are in place in South Pembrokeshire and the Lower Severn catchment in Powys.
The Met Office said blustery showers spread across many areas last night, bringing chilly temperatures for many and frost in the north.
