KASHMIR POLICE OFFERS TIMELY SUPPORT
The Global Kashmir
|July 02, 2025
In a laudable and much-needed move, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has introduced specialized helpline numbers to aid the victims of terrorism in the Kashmir Valley.
-
This step highlights the people-friendly attitude of the security forces, demonstrating an improved grasp of the trauma, loss, and psychological wounds that terrorism leaves on common civilians. During a period where misinformation and alienation have so frequently shrouded discussion regarding police in Kashmir, this move is a major turn toward healing, reconciliation, and civic participation.
The helplines aim to aid those who directly or indirectly lost something because of terrorism loss of a family member, loss of property, or years of psychological trauma due to conflict-related episodes. The services will not merely register complaints but also link the victims to appropriate rehabilitation, financial aid, counseling, and legal aid mechanisms. This organized outreach is more than a bureaucratic exercise; it is a sign of compassion and accountability, putting the welfare of the citizens at the center of policing.
For years, Kashmiri people have suffered the consequences of a war they did not initiate. The process of violence facilitated by terrorism has left homes in ruins, families destroyed, children orphaned, and women widowed. Whole generations have been raised under the spectre of fear and insecurity. While law enforcement agencies have traditionally concentrated on eliminating threats and maintaining security, a void has existed to confront the emotional and social consequences of terrorism on the local populace.
