COUNCIL IS PROPOSING TO GIVE OAPS EXTRA CASH
MIDDLESBROUGH pensioners who miss out on the Winter Fuel Payment are set to get extra cash via the council to help them with fuel bills.
Councillors are being asked to approve plans for them to receive the full equivalent amount this year. It would see payments from the Household Support Fund (HSF) allocated to pensioners, using money provided by central government.
Winter Fuel Payments are designed to help pensioners with their energy costs during the colder months. But they are now only those on certain benefits are eligible.
