What next for Boro's five loan rangers?
The Gazette
|May 07, 2025
THE current expectation is that none of Middlesbrough's five loanees will be back at the club next season.
Their loan spells effectively came to an end on Saturday when Boro were beaten by Coventry City to end hopes of making the play-offs. Four of the five loan players were involved in the defeat, with Ben Doak absent having picked up an injury at the end of January which ended his campaign early.
The Liverpool star had already said his goodbyes to Boro as it was confirmed he wouldn’t make it back before the end of the campaign. Boro re-signing Doak would have only ever been possible if promotion was achieved. The Scotland star has plenty of interested parties in the Premier League, with Liverpool facing a dilemma this summer on whether to cash in or not.
