Victory seals title and promotion
The Gazette
|April 29, 2025
MIDDLESBROUGH Women were celebrating on Sunday as they secured the National League Division One North title with a 3-0 victory away at Barnsley, earning promotion to tier three of the women’s game as a result.

Goals from Millie Bell, Jess Mett and Sharna Wilkinson scored the goals that sparked scenes of celebration for Boro at Oakwell.
They pipped Cheadle Town Stingers to the league title and promotion on goal difference after a closely-fought battle throughout the season.
In the end, a vital 7-0 victory in their final home game of the season against Doncaster Belles at the Riverside proved vital for Mick Mulhern’s side in securing a three-goal advantage to take into the final day. And with Cheadle only beating Fylde 2-1, Boro's goal difference ended up bigger.
It crowns an excellent season for the Boro Women, who narrowly missed out to Hull City last term - the first campaign after the affiliation and backing of the football club.
