DRINKER SUFFERED THIRD-DEGREE BURNS IN ARSON ATTACK AT BAR

- By ESTHER HALLIGAN esther.halligan@reachplc.com @TeessideLive

A FIREBOMB arsonist, his "impulsive" girlfriend and getaway Range Rover driving brother have been put behind bars for over two decades after an innocent man was left with third-degree burns to his neck, back and face.

Carl Wild threw a makeshift petrol-bomb at an innocent drinker outside a Redcar bar.

Teesside Crown Court heard that the 34-year-old made the explosive after he was refused entry into Peggy June's bar, and, after he threw it at the victim it "exploded, consuming [his] face, head and shoulders in flames"

He then squirted bleach at the burning man before heading inside the venue on February 15.

The fire-starter - along with then-girlfriend Simone Reed had attended the bar together and CCTV shows Wild celebrating when an acquaintance pulled out a machete in a fight.

He was then refused entry by the bar owner when he tried to enter the venue again.

"Outside now! I'll burn the place down. I'll kill your wife and kids," Wild threatened owner Paul Jarvis.

He began fighting with Mr Jarvis on Queen Street, but Mr Jarvis got the better of him, and Wild ended up on the ground.

Inside the bar, former Big Brother star Reed was seen talking to Mr Jarvis before she headbutted him, and left. The fights and the fire attack were all captured on CCTV.

Intent on revenge, Wild selected a jerry can, cloths and glass bottles of alcohol from a nearby petrol station, after Reed, 36, drove him there.

Reed told the owner of Peggy June's that the bar would be "petrol-bombed" when she arrived back onto Queen Street, and he refused to allow her back into the bar "to get her phone".
