Tees health care chiefs welcome plan for NHS

|July 04, 2025
HEALTH care bosses on Teesside have welcomed Wes Streeting’s plan for the NHS, saying that the three key priority areas align closely with plans for the region.

The Health Secretary has set out his plan to “rebuild the NHS”, as he laid out his three priorities for the Government's 10-year plan.
Mr Streeting said the focus would be on shifting care from hospitals to community, moving from analogue to digital, and putting a greater onus on prevention.
He said: “We will turn our National Health Service into a neighbourhood health service.
“The principle is simple, care should happen as locally as it can, digitally by default, in a patient’s home if possible, in a neighbourhood health centre if needed, in a hospital if necessary.”
On increased digital provision he said there would be an “AI-doctor in your pocket”, greater use of wearable technology, and improved digital patient records.
He said: “Our plan will liberate frontline staff from the parts of the jobs they hate so they can focus on the job they love, caring for patients.”
He added: “Every patient will receive a first-class service, whatever their background and whatever they earn.”
