Teen boxer shines on TV after victory in new weight category

A TEENAGE boxer from Redcar expressed his delight at winning the Manchester Box Cup in front of the SkySports cameras.

Seventeen-year-old Lewis Coston was victorious at his new 57kg weight and got the opportunity of his first television interview.

Lewis said: "The whole event was exciting and exhilarating. It's the first time I'd boxed competitively this year owing to illness, and my first bout with three-minute rounds.

"It's a two-day event but in fact circumstances put me into a straight final on the Sunday.

"I was a bit slow getting off the mark and had to dig deep in the third round to get the win over Jake Preston from Liverpool. He's been a national champion representing England in the British tri-nations competition.
