Silvera turns to gold for new boss Edwards

ROB Edwards told Sammy Silvera to go and prove himself in pre season - and is delighted that the forward has stepped up to take his chance.
The Middlesbrough boss had previously detailed how Silvera came to see him at the start of preseason to plead for an opportunity.
It followed two difficult years at Boro, the second of which was spent out on loan and struggling to make a positive impression at Portsmouth and then Blackpool.
Silvera has been one of the biggest winners of Boro’s preseason since returning, with Edwards’ arrival on Teesside bringing a change in formation and an opportunity to impress at left wing-back for the 24-year-old.
The Aussie now looks almost guaranteed to start Boro’s first game of the season against Swansea City on Saturday.
