Selfish gambler stole over £30k from her sick grandmother

A DEPLORABLE fraudster's selfish actions tore her family apart after she stole more than £30,000 from her own ill grandmother to feed her gambling addiction.

Aimee Dodds was trusted in the role of power of attorney to look after the finances for her grandmother Sheila Dodds, who sadly died in December 2020. Her health had deteriorated and she was diagnosed with dementia and living in a care home, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Concerns were first raised by the Office of Public Guardian that Dodds had not been paying the care home fees. When later confronted by a family member, the mum-of-three said the missing money had been spent on the grandmother's home to make it suitable for the rental market.
