Scoreline flatters Shots as Spennymoor's run ends in Wembley defeat
The Gazette
|May 12, 2025
VALIANT Spennymoor Town found the FA Trophy final just one step too far on their incredible cup run as they were beaten 3-0 at Wembley by Aldershot Town.

Aldershot made their quality count in the second half as goals from Jack Barham, Dan Ellison and Josh Barrett sealed it for the National League side. It was a harsh scoreline for Spennymoor who could have easily led at half-time after an encouraging first 45 minutes.
Spennymoor more than held their own against the side from the division above in the first half. On his 35th birthday, legendary striker Glen Taylor saw an audacious bicycle kick saved. At the other end, the Moor were remaining tight and defensively disciplined, with a long-range effort excellently saved by ex-Boro keeper Brad James as close as Aldershot came.
