Pub keeps licence but conditions are imposed

A PUB in Hemlington has avoided having its licence revoked with a path to “normality” laid out.

The Cleveland Huntsman, in Viewley Centre Road, Hemlington, had its licence suspended after an incident on July 24.

Interim steps saw the removal of the designated premises supervisor (DPS), along with the suspension of the licence at a hearing on July 28.

The same subcommittee met on Monday to decide the longer-term future of the pub, with the police and pub's representatives agreeing on a course of action.

The committee chair ruled several conditions would be modified and interim steps would remain in place.

The meeting heard that until a new DPS has been confirmed, the pub should remain closed, with vacant possession of its accommodation by premises licence holder Star Pubs Trading, by next Monday.
