'Positive changes' on cancer targets - Trust

WAIT TIMES SUBSTANTIALLY MISSED BUT BOSSES SAY IMPROVEMENTS BEING MADE
A HOSPITAL trust which is continuing to lag behind with several national cancer targets says it is seeing "positive changes
The South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said it had seen increases in demand for such care and was committed to improving cancer services and outcomes.
A recently published trust 'quality account' for the 2024/25 period, which included performance data set against national priorities, showed just 57.8% of cancer patient cases received their first hospital treatment within 62 days after an urgent referral from their GP. The current target is 85%.
Performance against this 62 day wait metric has been on the slide for a number of years since peaking at 85.4% in 2017/18. It stabilised in the last 12 months, but in the several years prior there were successive year-on-year decreases.
