COUNCIL ALLAYS FEARS OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE NEAR UNIVERSITY HALLS AND RESIDENTIAL CARE HOME
MIDDLESBROUGH will gain a fourth assessment and treatment site in the town.
The move was approved at a meeting of Middlesbrough Council’s Labour Executive, held on October 8, as Councillor Jan Ryles, executive member for public health, set out the recommendations, which advocated changes to the recovery model of the council's in-house substance misuse service.
The reason for the change was due to the council's decision to use the Live Well East building in Berwick Hills as a neighbourhoods hub for East Middlesbrough, which thereby reduces the space for recovery solutions.
The plan, which was approved unanimously by councillors, is to have an assessment and treatment site at Live Well East as well as a new central site at Park House on Park Road North.
During the meeting, councillors highlighted the challenges that are already faced on Park Road North.
