Conway admits the last few months have been the toughest of his career yet, as he opened up on his relief at finally breaking his goalscoring drought.Conway bagged Boro’s third goal from the penalty spot in Saturday's 3-1 victory over QPR at the Riverside. It was a moment enjoyed by everyone there of a Boro persuasion.

That's because the goal ended a 16-game wait for the striker to finally get back among the goals. Just his third of the season, his last came in the win over Sheffield United at the end of August.

Speaking after the QPR win, Conway said: “It’s a huge relief, if I'm being honest. This has probably been the toughest part of my career to date, these past few months.

“Obviously not scoring and having to deal with that mentally. It’s been a new challenge. I'm glad that I've come through it and come out the other end, and to get the goal is such a huge relief.

“I just want to say a massive thank you to all the fans and my teammates and the staff at the club for sticking by me through this period. Like I said, it was the toughest part of my career and I think everyone could feel that.

“I've got good people around me, starting with my family. They've been in my ear supporting me. But obviously being a long way from home, not being able to see them, it's been tough.
