It's advantage Edwards in the race to be new Boro boss
The Gazette

MIDDLESBROUGH’S search for their new head coach is fast approaching a resolution, with the Teessiders believed to have firmly narrowed down their list of potential candidates to a preferred option.
Ex-Luton Town manager Rob Edwards is now the firm favourite to replace Michael Carrick ahead of pre-season, with the bookies making him odds-on favourite and he is expected to get the nod.
Edwards lifted Luton into the Premier League in 2023 and will be challenged to repeat the feat on Teesside by Boro chairman Steve Gibson.
However, other names have long been in the picture, with many fans preferring a move for Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl.
Here's the latest on each of the key candidates.
ROB EDWARDS
The former Luton Town boss has moved ahead of the field as clear favourite, with Boro in advanced talks with the 42-year-old. Championship rivals Bristol City have seemingly opted for ex-Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber to replace Liam Manning, who left for Norwich City, leaving the path clear for Boro to focus on appointing Edwards.
He has experience of winning promotion from the Championship after succeeding with Luton Town, while he also guided Forest Green Rovers to League One.
